Union Jack - New colours


A year of celebration will hit our great nation this year. To mark 60 years of The Queen's reign the Diamond Jubilee in June, a once in a lifetime event.

And the 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be held from 27 July to 12 August, followed by the 2012 Paralympic Games from 29 August to 9 September.

Newly designed - Knitting and Crochet Bags and Totes


We at Purl 1 Design appreciate the fact that knitting and crochet is the perfect way to relax and enjoy a pastime whilst naturally turning it into a hobby. Like any hobby, it becomes important and almost a way of life, so we have designed a range of beautiful bags, totes and purses, which are for this purpose whilst keeping in touch with the do-it-yourself concept. All of our bags are made with hardwearing, easy to clean PVC fabric, and lined in 100% white cotton. All zip pulls have the ‘homemade with love’ charm, supporting our unique designs. Spring/Summer 2011

With Spring in full swing, you don't have to be a fashion guru to recognise that this year's summer colour is Cool Whites. It's also worth remembering that wool keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer - so what are you waiting for?

As featured in this month's Vouge Knitting 2011, you can see attention to detail within the design can be a beautiful addition to a knitted overlay.

 Moreover the intrinsic and delicately crafted patterns ensure that the garment is thin and does not absorb excessive amounts of heat. Essentially, knitted overlays such as vest tops, cardigans, head accessories etc, can complete a stylish outfit and can compliment denim nicely. Since chinos appear to be a big hit this year, you'll have no trouble trying to mix and match your white knitted garment with cream/taupe tones. Crochet remixed and remastered Fall 2011


Crochet was once again featured on the catwalks for next autumn. Christopher Kane and Henry Holland have used crochet granny squares hand stitched together to form beautifully crafted dresses and skirts silhouettes, and tradition cardigan and jumper shapes. Large scarves that drape around the neck, caught at the waist with a stylish narrow belt give crochet the wow factor.

So inspired by the crafted squares they continued the theme with printed leather crochet pattern print used for tailored fitted jackets and skirts. Who ever said crochet was for the older generation……
